Superboot Root Method to Root HTC Desire C

HTC Desire C or Golf is a new HTC handset which has created a good demand in the Android market mainly due to the features and the look it shows. Many users who have passion to explore more within Android would feel the need to root the phone. In fact, we would appreciate their thoughts and courage. Rooting an Android brings out the real charm of the gadget. However, the only drawback of rooting the phone is, there are chances of data loss, phone bricking and loss of warranty.

If you had been moving around since while for a method to root HTC Desire C then here’s a simple method for you. This method involves Superboot usage. Superboot is boot.img and when this is booted it will root the device, the very first time you boot. This involves installation of SU and super user apk.

PaulOBrien at Modaco came up with this method and he thinks that this rooting method to root HTC Desire C is less messy. Many rooting methods involve flashing certain partitions or using ADB and all. But in this method to root HTC Desire C no such thing would be involved.

It is important to note that we have not tested this method on our handset. This method comes from Modaco, the official link of which we have provided at the end of the post. We appreciate developers’ efforts on this. However, it would be better that before you root HTC Golf with Superboot, kindly go through the disclaimer.

Note: Unlock bootloader for HTC Desire C first. This method works only when the bootloader is unlocked. You can do it with the help of this link: HTCdev.

 Procedure to Root HTC Desire C with Superboot

  1. The very first thing you must do is download Superboot r1 from the link given at the link given at the end of the post.
  2. Now, you need to extract the same to a directory.
  3. Now you have to put your device in bootloader mode.- Turn off the phone then turn on with the ‘volume up’ and ‘volume down’ buttons both pressed to enter the bootloader.
  4. For WINDOWS – double click ‘install-superboot-windows.bat’

For- MAC – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x’ followed by ‘./’
For- LINUX – Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type ‘chmod +x’ followed by ‘./’

This method is already tested by the developer and also many other testers. Now they are working on custom recovery. We hope that we get to see custom recovery for HTC Desire C soon. We thank the developer for his efforts.
