FaceBook Acquires Tagtile Customer Loyalty App

Facebook acquires TagtileFaceBook has been making many strategic moves these days and after the Instragram acquisition this networking giant now wants to develop its feathers in the mobile commerce field. Yes, there is yet another acquisition and this time it is Tagtile. This is also a major acquisition and FaceBook has purchased the team of developers who are behind this smart app.

What is Tagtile?

Tagtile is a startup company that has an active participation in the field of mobile marketing. The company deals with customer loyalty and rewards.

It works this way. If you visit a shop that is Tagtile added (it can be anything coffee shop, nearby restaurant etc) then you can get your purchases tagged. This is kind of Universal loyalty card. More tags attract more rewards. Using this app is quite simple. You can download the Android app from here.

When you want to use this as a punch card at any Tagtile added store, you will have to merely start the app and check on the Tagtile Cube as available at the cash counter (of the Tagtile added shop). Later the users or customers can use their phones to get prizes and discounts. More and more merchants and shops are planning to become part of this customer loyalty reward program.

Now, since you know how Tagtile works it would be simple to digest the news that why FaceBook owner Mark Zuckerberg purchased the startup, Tagtile on Friday (13/04/2012). Mark believes that integration of FaceBook and Tagtile could prove to be a revolutionary decision for the mobile marketing platform. However, he does not make any clarity about the plans of integration. But one thing is clear, that the mobile networking domain seems to be one of the largest potentials in the field of product marketing and sales.

According to TechCrunch here’s an email from FaceBook that makes the integration official.  “We’re happy to confirm that TagTile’s founders are joining Facebook, and that Facebook is acquiring substantially all of the company’s assets. We’ve admired the engineering team’s efforts for some time now and we’re excited to have them join Facebook.”

Tagtile announced on its website that “Today, we are happy to announce that we are joining Facebook, and that they are acquiring substantially all of our assets. It’s a huge opportunity for us to take our goal – helping businesses grow – and do it on a much, much bigger scale than we could have on our own.” Tagtile also indicated that as of now they won’t take nay new customers. But for the old merchants, things will go on as it used to for the time being.

Our View on Tagtile FaceBook Integration:

We personally loved this Smart app Tagtile because it solves dual purposes. For the customers it serves as a reward program or discount deal and for merchants the Cube as provided to the stores generates data towards the business strategic and marketing efforts. Now, we are desperate to see how Tagtile turns out to be on FaceBook.

Our Expectations from this deal: Now, since you have read all the above details, you are pretty clear that Tagtile offers are similar to Groupon coupons or Google offers. We expect that after this deal when the real work starts it may be this way. FaceBook may send mails to the users about the offers that may be available. Customers will have to show their Android phone (for the code that would be generated) to the store and avail the discount or gift against the purchase. Since Tagtile will be behind this, the offer execution would be smarter and smoother. This is what we expect. But may be it could be ever better than what we expect.

So let us stay alert and keep watch on the updates. We recommend you to check this page for more updates that will be coming up. We would also love to get your views and responses on this.
